Make overnight dates explicit
When work crosses midnight, check both the start date and finish date. A finish of 01:00 belongs to the following day when the shift started the previous evening.
Use the company’s configured time zone consistently. Check any shift spanning a clock change carefully; the difference between clock-face labels may not equal elapsed time.
Review late finishes and breaks
Closing tasks can continue after customers leave. Review the recorded finish and any approval rules the business applies instead of automatically substituting the scheduled end.
Planned breaks are useful defaults, but actual exceptions need review. Keep a reason when a finish or break is corrected so the approved record can be explained later.
Prepare hours for your payroll process
CrewLoca provides clocking, review, approval and timesheet exports. It does not calculate tips, service-charge distribution, wage rates or payroll tax.
Set a clear cutoff for reviewing the period. A payroll viewer can work with approved records without needing manager editing permissions.
- Check the date as well as the time for a night shift.
- Resolve open shifts before exporting.
- Review break and overtime decisions before approval.
- Confirm whether payroll expects decimal hours or hours and minutes.
Common questions
Is CrewLoca a rota planner?
CrewLoca supports normal working hours and attendance rules. It is not a full shift-scheduling or shift-swap system.
Does an overnight shift need two separate days of manual totals?
Check the actual start and finish dates and the resulting record. Avoid splitting or duplicating hours solely because the clock passed midnight.
