Start with the record you need
Write down what payroll actually needs: person, date, workplace, start, finish, unpaid breaks and approved hours. A timer that measures projects or billable tasks may serve a different purpose from staff attendance.
Try a normal shift and a mistake. A missed finish, a disputed break and a manager correcting their own record tell you more than a perfect sample shift.
Compare the whole workflow
A useful evaluation follows one record from the worker to the person preparing wages.
- Can staff clock on a device they already use?
- Are location checks optional and clearly explained?
- Can people request a correction while preserving the original evidence?
- Who can approve hours, and which workplaces can they access?
- Can payroll export approved records without buying spreadsheet software?
Compare the full monthly cost
Include everyone who needs an enabled account, including managers and payroll viewers. Check minimum charges, extra-location fees and whether approval or geofencing needs a more expensive plan.
CrewLoca’s plan is £14.99 per month for up to 10 active billable users, then £1.49 for each additional user. All features are included.
Common questions
Is a time clock app a payroll service?
CrewLoca prepares approved hours and exports. It does not calculate wages, tax or statutory payroll deductions, or send pay to employees.
Does the owner need to clock in?
No. An owner can manage the business without clocking, but their enabled account still counts towards the subscription.
